Welcome!

  • Welcome to the blog page for the 6th grade class for Inland Leader's Charter School!

This blog page will be a means by which we can update you on a variety of things going on in our class.

Today we had a great discussion in Language class about heroes. This discussion was timely, as we have been inundated with reports about the heroic efforts of local firefighters protecting homes in the nearby mountain towns of Lake Arrowhead and Running Springs during these recent fires in California. Jake Sandberg's dad, a local firefighter, had his picture taken while fighting these recent mountain fires, and the picture was picked up by Time Magazine. Mr. Sandberg was put on the front cover of the November issue of Time! I placed the cover picture on this blog page.

As part of this discussion today, we wrote our thoughts about heroes and several students had an opportunity to share who they consider heroes. We also watched a brief video about the life of Nick Vujicic. Nick has no arms or legs, but has an awesome outlook on life and is carrying a message of hope all around the world.

Each of you will be submitting a research paper about a hero that you select and publishing it at the http://www.myhero.com/ website. This is going to be a great project for this class and for each of you individually!

The links below will be a part of our continuing lesson on heroes:
  • http://www.myhero.com/ (use to research about heros and use to organize & publish your report)
  • http://www.ajkids.com/ (search engine for your hero research)

I look forward to having you visit regularly to check out the most recent updates and additions to this page!
